Over the last four decades, the practice of payments and insurance has changed drastically in America. In earlier days, a bill would be submitted and paid on the spot. Then came insurance deductibles and co-pays and a morass of computer softwares for record keeping. Soon it evolved to networks and credentialing, with doctors becoming employees of large corporate groups and no longer working for patients. Insurance companies began dictating diagnosis and what treatments could be done. Medicine became less satisfying as a profession because insurance regulations have overpowered the doctor-patient relationship.
That’s when Dr. Peterson quit playing the insurance game. Many natural healing procedures are not covered by insurance. The ones that are covered can easily be billed by the patient for reimbursement. Now, payment is expected at the time of service.
At the present time we do continue to bill insurance for Personal Injury Protection for auto accident injuries.
